The individual exhibition in the Museum of the contemporary art in Skopje, of the young artist Jasminka Novkovska shall surprise all those who know her previous works. From story- poetic portrait she enters in the territories to other thematics and stylistics. She is an author open to the experiment, towards the process of searching of a new plastic expression, towards the provocation, both for herself as well as for the others. The paintings created and combined by collages, could be seen as a heterogeneous “ kaleidoscope “ settled by strange- foreign faces, photos, texts and cloths and they rather need to be read than observed. Stylistically not with a single- significance, from plastic reminiscence of ancient cultures to strip-like faces, her paintings discover an author with stressed reflex towards modern times, engaged in a thinking manner with malicious- daily and global problems of the social life. The paintings of Jasminka show a plastic explanation of her individual interpretation of politics and history, degradation of primeval humanity, intellectual devalvation, and mercantilism. “ In what the man and the world have been transformed ?” a question that is asked by everyone observer, who shall reach to the paintings of Jasminka. In places, she reaches to the reality, witch would confuse even the most hardened puritan, and would stir up the required taste. But behind this visual “aggression “ is hidden her individual experience and pain, and at the same time there is a tendency to see the world as an intellectual territory, the love not as a commercialized but as a sacral act, the human being not as a non-defined sexual hybrid, but as a truth. In this way the reality becomes a symbol, while the reality form becomes a mark. The compositions are built up by the principle of a contrast, in witch the ancient civilizations are stumbled over, as antipodes taken from the modern visual culture. In the paintings is driven the nostalgia of the ancient cultures and characters, opposite to the current technocratic hysterics, social cynicism and banality............In the text on one canvas we read: “ Be without paradoxes and socials rules, open your hurt and destroy the frontiers!”............The paintings of Jasminka leave for us the open question “Where are the frontiers?” behind witch leave the truth, the faith and the individual salvation...............
